Short-term health insurance can help those in need of coverage

Published: May/Jun 2002

Some life experiences make it difficult to find health insurance at a reasonable rate, but AAA has short-term solutions.

People who are between jobs often are uninsured, and newly employed people sometimes don’t qualify for health insurance for a period of time. Also, students face similar situations when they are no longer covered by a parents plan or after they graduate and are searching for employment.

For such situations, AAA can arrange affordable short-term health insurance. Fortis Insurance Company's short-term medical coverage can range from 30 days to six months, and any healthy individual from 15 days old to 64 years is eligible. Several deductible, rate and payment options are available.

Fortis also offers a Student Select product geared solely toward college students. To be eligible, students must be undergraduates taking nine or more credits or full-time graduate students attending an accredited college.

Both plans offer high levels of protection, freedom to choose your own doctors, emergency care, hospitals and outpatient care. For an application, brochure or more details, call 1-800-222-7623 ext. 7038.
